Frequently asked questions

How would you describe your style of photography?

I cover weddings in a very journalistic style but I don't think photography should be limited by a "genre." While I'm very hands-off and unobtrusive in my coverage of the day, I do believe that there is a time and place for gorgeous, casually posed images of the couple together.  So while I won't stop you and make you pose while cutting the cake, I'd like about an hour (or more!) alone with you both (if possible) sometime during the day to create some images of you without your wedding party or guests looking on.  My images of the guests at the wedding are almost 100% about capturing their personality in a photograph; laughing, smiling, dancing, having a glass or 2 and having a great time.

Do you travel?

Of course, I do not charge for distances under an hour from my address.  For any locations further afield, a small travel fee and/or overnight accommodation costs may be required.

What happens first?

A pre-wedding consultation in person or via a video call whichever is more convenient for you.  This provides the opportunity to get to know each other and put any questions across that will make your big day evermore memorable.

We are a little camera shy, how can you help?

Don’t worry, this is completely normal!  I won’t make you feel awkward and do the traditional line of ‘say cheese’, instead I will give you freedom just to be yourself with one another, leaving me to capture your love and affection as honestly as possible.

Plenty of communication between us in the lead up to the wedding will also help in being relaxed and more comfortable on your big day.  An option of a pre-wedding shoot is a great thing to do to be more at ease in front of the camera.

Is there an option for a pre-wedding shoot?

Sure! A Pre-Wedding, or engagement photoshoot is an option for you and your fiancé to be comfortable in front of the camera, gain an insight on how I roll and the more at ease you will be on the wedding day.  I will send you the images online and also include with your wedding photos.  The photoshoot can be at a location of your choice, one that is dear to you both. Please let me know if you are interested in this and I will provide more details.

How long do you shoot for on the day?

The complete day coverage will cover from bridal preparation to party time!  Half-day coverage will depend on the option chosen; Bridal Prep up to the wedding breakfast or ceremony to party time!

Have an idea for a photo, can we try it?

Of course! We are in collaboration after all! It is brilliant when a couple has some fun ideas. I recommend you to have a look at sites like Instagram or Pinterest for inspiration.

Do you take posed family photos?

Absolutely.  I strongly believe in those traditional family images, as they're records of your entire family at an important time in their history together.  I ask my couples to designate the grooms-men or best man to be in charge of organising the groups for photos. This keeps things flowing and speeds up the process. I highly recommend trying to keep it around ten or below.

Are the photographs copyrighted?

The photographer will always hold the copyright, however, my terms and conditions provide you with printing rights, sharing, and unlimited download.

Copyright, can we share our photos with family and friends via social media?

Yes, absolutely.  Your wedding photographs will come with a full personal use license for you to print, e-mail, and share your photographs with friends and family.

Generally, the only restriction is commercial use, please contact me before selling them to Vogue!

Do you edit the photos?

Photos are individually, carefully processed and 300+ photos are delivered in high resolution for you to print, download + share however you wish, usually within 4-6 weeks.

How long does it take to receive our photos?

As you can appreciate the editing process is time intensive and I always aim to deliver the best photographic story of your big day through high-quality photographs; I aim to get some preview photos to you within 2 weeks and the complete album over to you 4 weeks thereafter.  At times this may not be possible during the height of the wedding season but I will keep you posted if this is the case.

Do we need to feed you at our wedding?

It would be really kind if you did, but it's not a contracted requirement. Feeding me ensures I stay cheerful, mobile, and focused or end up eating a stale protein bar that's been in my camera bag since 2010.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. Absolutely, I have Professional indemnity, public liability, and equipment insurance.

What kind of equipment do you use?

Full frame professional Nikon cameras, 2 D850’s, and a D810, top-line prime lenses (ranging from wide-angle to portrait lenses).  I mostly use fixed focal length prime lenses instead of zooms, as they provide superior optics and rendering.  I also have flashes and light modifiers but don't tend to use them unless the light conditions call for it.

Do you back-up the Wedding Photos?

Absolutely! I shoot simultaneously on 2 memory cards in each camera and download the images immediately after the wedding on my computer, external hard drive coupled with cloud storage also.  At least two copies of your files are available any time, the importance of backup!

Why should we choose you over any other professional photographer?

Your choice of photographer is a very personal choice and the two main areas; the connection between you and I and my photography style is most important to be in harmony.  I understand the client’s needs before the wedding day to produce the best images possible for you to look back on with great fondness. I pride myself on being a people person and interacting in a positive way.  There is nothing worse than a bossy photographer who gets in the way and ruins the flow of the day!

How do we book you?

To secure the date I need a signed contract and a non-refundable deposit of 25%.  This will secure me as your photographer, the remaining 75% of the balance is to be 7 days prior to the wedding.
